Salt Lake TempleThe other day while reading the front page of lds.org I came upon an interesting article.  On the sidebar the Church asked the question; “Are Mormons Christian?” and of course this caught my immediate attention!

Every Christian ministry for Mormons has explored this topic, LAM included, but we believe it’s important to keep abreast with the Church’s newest tactics so we’re taking a look at their latest explanation of why they believe they’re Christians.

Mormon Decisions 102 Nephi 18:19; “And when they shall say unto you: Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep and mutter—should not a people seek unto their God for the living to hear from the dead? 20 To the law and to the testimony; and if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

flowers-cartoon-8The next part in their series that touches on The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: addresses Jesus as the “Good Shepherd”.

The message begins with the parable Jesus gave of a shepherd leaving the ninety-nine sheep in search for the one that’s lost in Luke 15:4, 7. It insinuates that Jesus was referring to those who are on the brink of leaving the church or to those who have already left, and it’s up to the faithful in the church to seek out, and help those who have lost their way.

stickman thinking 3“Diversity of opinion does not necessitate intolerance of spirit, nor should it embitter or set rational beings against each other. The Christ taught kindness, patience, and charity. Our religion is not hostile to real science. That which is demonstrated, we accept with joy; but vain philosophy, human theory, and mere speculations of men, we do not accept nor do we adopt anything contrary to divine revelation or to good common sense. But everything that tends to right conduct, that harmonizes with sound morality and increases faith in Deity, finds favor with us no matter where it may be found.”

Heber J. Grant, Deseret Evening News, Words in Season from the First Presidency (Christmas message)

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000The LDS OT Sunday school lesson for week six made me feel like I was in elementary school once again.  The way the Church presents their lessons have been a source of wonder for Melissa and me once we got going on these things and the reason why is because of their material.

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000As our readers know we’ve been posting the weekly Old Testament Sunday school lessons the Church is going through and to save my sanity I’ve put them all in one place to make it easier to access.  If you want to find out what they taught when, you can find the widget over on the right!

We’re praying you use these as a witnessing tool or if you’re LDS you allow the information presented here to give you further insight about God and who He is.  We do this out of respect and not to bash the Mormons.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle Grim
