Jude 4 “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
By and large, members of the LDS Church today believe Moroni was the angel who showed up one night telling Joseph Smith about the golden plates buried in the earth near his home.
“He called me by name and said…that his name was Moroni…”
Today when members read Joseph Smith’s History in the Pearl of Great Price, Doctrine and Covenants 128:20, the narrative tells them Moroni visited Joseph Smith. They also read the same thing in History of the Church 1:11. See image.

October 2 — Translating the Book of Mormon w/ Hats & Stones. Ensign, “A Treasured Testament”, July 1993, p. 61 “The details of this miraculous method of translation are still not fully known. Yet we do have a few precious insights. David Whitmer wrote: “Joseph Smith would put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face in the hat, drawing it closely around his face to exclude the light; and in the darkness the spiritual light would shine. A piece of something resembling parchment would appear, and on that appeared the writing. One character at a time would appear, and under it was the interpretation in English. Brother Joseph would read off the English to Oliver Cowdery, who was his principal scribe, and when it was written down and repeated to Brother Joseph to see if it was correct, then it would disappear, and another character with the interpretation would appear.
