Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
If I had to give this conference an overall title, I’d name it ‘The Confounding Contradictions’. The Mormon Church has always contradicted itself, but there are times when we see them doing so as if it’s second nature for them.
The one thing each speaker seemed to have in common was an overall sense of someone just going through the motions without thinking. Recently, they’ve seen a good sized portion of their leadership die due to age, and those that remain don’t seem to carry the same enthusiasm of their predecessors. Gone are the unyielding personalities of McConkie and Talmage, the new game in town reminds me of the Stepford Wives.
They’re merely parroting the lessons they’ve been taught before they collapse into bed at the end of each day.
Personally, I’ve always referred to it as the ‘Eyeore Syndrome’. They’ll do what they need to because that’s what they’re told, but it’s not without heaving a huge sigh of, ‘woe-is-me’.
I don’t know about you the reader, but I can’t think of Jesus without being excited for Who He is, what He’s done, and how fortunate I am that He saved me! I can point to the time when my old self began to change because of His supernatural work inside of me.
My dear Mormon people have known no such thing in their lives. They simply go from one day to the next, without any marker of when Jesus took up residence inside of them. Pray they’ll know the true joy of worshiping Him! Please, pray that they’ll know Isaiah 1:18!
