Unequally Yoked
God is so good to us. Just as a loving father takes his children by the hand to cross the street our Father in heaven tells us what is safe in life by providing us with His word. All He ever wants is to love us and in so doing provides the way for us to be living life the way He intended for it to be.
I’ve dealt with families and their children on the issue of being unequally yoked since 1994. It has never ceased to amaze me the lengths a parent will go to in order to keep their child from joining a cult like Mormonism. The panic and grief in their hearts are a heavy burden indeed. When I hear the pain in their voice I always wonder how God must feel. Typically we see 5-6 new families a month with the same problem and the only things that differ in their stories are their names and place of residence. For individual reasons (usually hormonal) the young Christian has decided their Mormon friend isn’t like the other 13 million Mormons in the world. I can assure the reader, nothing could be further from the truth.

Inspired of God? Difficulties in the Book of Mormon
“All scripturei s given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16.
The key word here is inspiration. This word in the Greek is theopneustos. It means God breathed. Look anywhere in the Bible, there is nothing in it that contradicts itself, there are no mistakes, and it is all one hundred percent perfect! Archaeologists will sometimes use the Bible to search for the spots they want to investigate. There are hundreds of documents which prove the Bible to be true, from Josephus of the first century to the Dead Sea Scrolls. Each time they find something new, it validates what the Bible says!

Jesus of the Bible and Jesus in Mormonism; Not the Same Christ
The week after Thanksgiving is always the same for our family. We always find ourselves basking in the joy of having full tummies of good food and warm fellowship with other Christians. The “busy season” is upon us as we rush to the umpteenth performance of our children’s rendition of Pachelbel Canon at the local schools and clap wildly just like we did the first time we heard it.
Full tummies and scratchy orchestra performances are the blessings making our lives joyful, while knowing they are from the one and only God. With that in mind let us turn our attention to the greatness of our Lord, our God and Savior, Christ Jesus; let us pause for a moment and think upon nothing and no one, save Him only.

Jesus is the Only Way
By Melissa Grimes
I recently come upon this quote by Gordon B. Hinckley:
“Just as our Redeemer gave His life as a vicarious sacrifice for all men, and in so doing became our Savior, even so we, in a small measure, when we engage in proxy work in the temple, become as saviors to those on the other side who have no means of advancing unless something is done in their behalf by those on earth” (“Closing Remarks,” Ensign, November 2004, 105).
The idea that we have the power to save someone, in the eternal sense is blasphemy. We don’t have the power to do that, only Jesus does. You don’t need someone to do Masonic temple rituals for you in the LDS temple.

April 12 – Acts 3:19-20; “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you”.

March 14 – Ex. 3:14, John 8:58; “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM”. “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am”.
_____
What an amazing set of scriptures to give to a Mormon! Ask them why they think the Pharisees were so angry with Jesus after reading these two verses to them. Then share their own scriptures with them and ask them what it means.
_____
Introductory page of the Book of Mormon, 2nd paragraph: “JESUS IS THE CHRIST, THE ETERNAL GOD”.

February 25 – “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death of the cross.” Phil. 2:5-6, 8.
_____
There are actually two subjects to notice with this verse. Explain the word “robbery” to the Mormon. In the Greek, it means “grasped”. The other subject is the belief that Jesus had to perform, or work, to receive His salvation.
_____
“If a man gets a fullness of the priesthood of God he has to get it in the same way that Jesus Christ obtained it, and that was by keeping all the commandments and obeying all the ordinances of the house of the Lord.” Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 308

February 24 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:23.
_____
Not one Mormon believes that children can sin. They baptize at the age of eight to be cleansed from their sins because this is when they believe you become accountable for your actions. Have a Mormon try to explain away a two-year-old child’s behavior. Also ask them why they’d have to be baptized for a remission of sins if they were perfect up until they got baptized.
_____
D&C 29:47-8; “Wherefore, they cannot sin, for power is not given unto Satan to tempt little children, until they begin to become accountable before me; For it is given unto them even as I will, according to mine own pleasure, that great things may be required at the hands of their fathers”.

February 18 – God dresses us through Christ Jesus in the garments of salvation as He spoke of in Isaiah 61:10; “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels”.
_____
Under the Mormon’s street clothing” are their temple garments. These garments are to be worn at all times. They have markings on each breast and groin area for both male and female. Mormons see them as a sign of protection from God and to be set apart from the rest of the world. They use Rev. 16:15 as a reference to their need of being clothed with them.
_____
“The garment represents sacred covenants. It fosters modesty and becomes a shield and protection to the wearer.” Preparing to Enter the Holy Temple, pg. 21.

February 16 – 1 Corinthians 15:47; “The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven”.
_____
Mormons will tell you there aren’t any scriptures that say we don’t have a heavenly mother, yet it’s clear that God is self-existent without the need of anyone’s help for creating us. In fact, He’s the only one to come down from heaven at all, meaning we were not with Him before living on this earth. Ask the Mormon why they believe there is a “Heavenly Mother”.
_____
“This doctrine that there is a Mother in Heaven was affirmed in plainness by the First Presidency of the Church…that man is the “offspring of celestial parentage” and that “all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity””. Mormon Doctrine pg. 516, Bruce McConkie.

February 4 – John 1:1, 14; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth”.
_____
It’s always important to pay close attention to the wording of contracts, bosses, parents or anything else that is in authority in your life. You may miss a key element that could cost you millions of dollars, cost you your freedom or ultimately your own salvation.
_____
Joseph Smith’s ‘New Translation’ of the Bible says in John 1:1, 14; “In the beginning was the gospel preached through the Son. And the gospel was the word, and the word was with the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was of God. And the same word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth”.

February 3 – We find salvation in no one else but through our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 says; “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”.
_____
For the Mormon there is a list of people holding the keys of salvation. At the top of this list is their heavenly father, then Jesus, then Adam, Joseph Smith and next in line is the living prophet. If you happen to be a woman in the church you will also have your husband to answer to.
_____
“The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds the keys of salvation for all men now living because he is the only one by whose authorization the sealing power of the priesthood can be used to seal men up to salvation and exaltation in the kingdom of God. (D&C 132:7).”

Holidays Celebrated by the Mormons
We receive a lot of requests asking if Mormons celebrate Easter, birthdays and other holidays that most Christians observe. When I was in the Mormon Church it didn’t occur to me that by not observing things like Good Friday would be looked upon as strange by those outside of our clan. Now that I’m a Christian I look with eager anticipation for Holy Week to come around every year. It’s hard to believe that I used to be so ignorant about such important items in life.
Mormons observe all holidays and birthdays that everyone else does in America. With the exception of Easter day they do not celebrate any days during Holy Week. They also don’t observe Ash Wednesday, Pentecost, Lent or Passover.
As my experience in the Christian lifestyle grew I came to realize just how empty my spiritual life was as a Mormon and how grateful I am now to the Lord for His awesome gift of salvation!
Please come alongside us to lift these dear people up in prayer for God to open their hearts and eyes to accept His free gift of love and salvation!
With Love in Christ
Michelle Grim

Greek and Latin Words in the Book of Mormon Part 4
As promised, here are the updated and revised results from our research of Greek & Latin Words in the Book of Mormon. Our most significant finding is the realization that the more we studied the Book of Mormon; the heavier our hearts became as the list of words became endless.
Our main concern and the reason we did this wasn’t for some vindictive purpose. It’s motivated out of a deep concern for the Mormon people. (As a personal side note here – each time I publish anything like this I do it out of the heartache I carry for my own mother. The Lord has taken that concern for her and expanded it to include all the Mormon people.)

Greek and Latin Words in the Book of Mormon Part 3
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 299; “To the Editor of the Times & Seasons: Sir:—… There was no Greek of Latin upon the plates from which I, through the grace of God, translated the Book of Mormon. Let the language of that book speak for itself.”
With your endless patience in the past five or six months here we are to present to all of you our findings regarding Joseph Smith’s claims and the Book of Mormon! To recap, Smith made the bold claim there were no Greek or Latin words in the translation of the Book of Mormon. He claimed the Book of Mormon was originally etched onto brass and golden plates in a language called “Reformed Egyptian”.

Greek Words in the Book of Mormon Part 2
Several months ago we published an article on our site focusing on the Greek words in the Book of Mormon. After we published it we received more than a handful of inquiries about the numbers for each word.
In light of your requests I enlisted a devoted partner of LAM to double check my work. Thanks to Alice’s kindness, here is the final tally! I chose to only count the Greek words up to the end of Helaman as that takes the reader up to circa 1 BC to 1 AD.
