General Conference, October 2001, “The Atonement Our Greatest Hope” “The Atonement cleanses us of sin on condition of our repentance. Repentance is the condition on which mercy is extended. After all we can do to pay to the uttermost farthing and make right our wrongs, the Savior’s grace is activated in our lives through the Atonement, which purifies us and can perfect us. Christ’s Resurrection overcame death and gave us the assurance of life after death.” – James E. Faust

Heber’s Faulty Memory; God Didn’t Appear to Joseph Smith
Journal of Discourses 6:29 “Do you suppose that God in person called upon Joseph Smith, our Prophet? God called upon him; but God did not come himself and call, but he sent Peter to do it. Do you not see? He sent Peter and sent Moroni to Joseph, and told him that he had got the plates. Did God come himself? No: he sent Moroni and told him there was a record, and says he, “That record is matter that pertains to the Lamanites, and it tells when their fathers came out of Jerusalem, and how they came, and all about it; and, says he, “If you will do as I tell you, I will confer a gift upon you.” Well, he conferred it upon him, because Joseph said he would do as he told him. “I want you to go to work and take the Urim and Thummim, and translate this book, and have it published, that this nation may read it.” Do you not see, by Joseph receiving the gift that was conferred upon him, you and I have that record?” – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, November 8, 1857

Adam & Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
The Man Adam, p 84 “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and he sweat as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (JST, Luke 22:41-44.) Elder Bruce R. McConkie postulated that this angel was likely Adam. If this angel was Adam (and there seems to be no reason to doubt it), here was the Messiah in the Garden of Gethsemane in his greatest of all trials, shedding his blood to redeem mankind from the effects of Adam’s transgression in the Garden of Eden and also from the results of each person’s own sins. There appeared from heaven to strengthen him the very person of Adam himself-he who brought mortality and blood and death and sin into the world. The parallel issue is unmistakable!
The plan of salvation to which both Adam and Jesus subscribed in the premortal world was being worked out in the world of Adam’s posterity. Each had fulfilled his foreordained part, and now the two principals were together as Jesus triumphed over sin and mortality. The next day Jesus would die upon the cross, and three days later he would rise from the grave, totally triumphant, not only over the death of the body but also over the death of the spirit-which is alienation from God.” – Joseph Fielding McConkie, Robert L. Millett
Galatians 3:13-14 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p 264
“In addition to the spiritual manifestations already mentioned as having occurred at this conference of June 3rd-6th, it should be said that, according to John Whitmer’s History of the Church, ch. v: “The Spirit of the Lord fell upon Joseph in an unusual manner, and he prophesied that John the Revelator was then among the Ten Tribes of Israel who had been led away by Salmanasser, king of Assyria, to prepare them for their return from their long dispersion, to again possess the land of their fathers. He prophesied many more things that I have not written.” (HC 1:176.)”.

Articles of Faith, p. 123 “The Establishment of Baptism dates from the time of the earliest history of the race. When
the Lord manifested Himself to Adam after the expulsion from the Garden of Eden, He promised the patriarch of the race: “If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be baptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son…ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost…” (more…)
Jesus’ Blood Doesn’t Save

Jesus’ Blood Doesn’t Save You
Journal of Discourses 7:298-299; “Jesus was anointed and preferred before others, from the simple fact that he loved righteousness better than others, and hated iniquity more. And hence it is written—”For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” (Hebrews 2:10.)…pg. 299… He not only recommended to the world obedience, but was himself a living pattern and example of that obedience which he taught, and through that obedience merited that which was conferred upon him. Hence we read that he was exalted above his brethren, simply because he loved righteousness and hated iniquity; and it is that same principle that saves you and me. We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action.” – Elder Amasa Lyman, Salt Lake City, December 25, 1859

Paradox or Believing a Lie?
Abraham 3:22-23; “Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones; 23 And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast chosen before thou wast born.”
Acts 10:34-35; “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”

Scattered sheep. Zechariah 13:7d; “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.”
Matthew 26:31-56; “Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. 33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. 34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. 35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples. 36 ¶ Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. 43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. 44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. 47 ¶ And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. 49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. 51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. 52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? 55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. 56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.”
Mormon Lies about God’s Holy Spirit

The other day I came across an online repository of sorts filled with LDS references about the Mormon Holy Ghost. The quotes were taken from speeches, and writings of past and present leaders of Mormonism, and as it turned out the page was written by a professor at BYU, Bruce K. Satterfield.
Looking over some of these I can’t help but feel sorry for those who absorb this into their spirit. There’s mass confusion from one leader to the next with no solid foundational truth upon which to stand. It’s no wonder the #1 issue for many new ex-Mormons is a lack of confidence about God’s Holy Spirit, and how He operates.
I just cannot imagine living life without God’s Holy Spirit as a constant staple in my life. When I’m lonely, or unsure about life, without fail, He is always there to guide me along and clarify doubts for me in His word and His presence.

If there’s ever been a group of people cut from the same cloth, the leaders of Mormonism surely fit the bill. Check out the vocabulary these so-called men of God have used to describe Cain, Joseph Smith and his parents, as well as their prophet Lehi.
Cain Born of Goodly Parents?
The Way to Perfection, pp. 97 – 98; “BORN OF GOODLY PARENTS Cain was born of goodly parents. Michael, the great prince, who helped form the earth, was his father. No man, save Jesus Christ, was ever blessed with greater honor or responsibility than Michael. No man deserved to be honored more than he. He had been given the first place in the history of the world and was taught directly from the heavens. Cain had the great honor of being Adam’s son, and he, too, was privileged with the same blessings as his father. What a mighty man he could have been! How his name might have stood out with excellent luster as that of one of the valiant sons of God! How he might have been honored to the latest generation! But he would have none of it!” – Joseph Fielding Smith [emp. mine]

Since Elijah and Moses were foreordained to perform earthly ordinances before the death and resurrection of Christ, it was necessary that they retain their physical bodies beyond the natural time of their lives. President Joseph Fielding Smith has written:

Our purpose in today’s post is twofold!
First and foremost, we’re asking Christians to pray for those caught in the lies of Mormonism. This is a never-ending request!
Secondly, we want to reiterate, and emphasize, our reasons for posting the info we do. We’re not here to bash the Mormon people. Our hearts are broken, and want nothing but for them to have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We provide the info in hopes they’ll allow God to open their eyes to the truth.

Gospel Principles, Chapter 19, pp. 107-113; “Our sincere sorrow
should lead us to forsake (stop) sinning. It does little good to admit that we have sinned if we do not stop doing the evil thing. If we truly repent of our sins, we will do them no more. If a person has stolen, he will steal no more. If he has lied, he will lie no more. If he committed adultery, he will stop this evil practice.” “To make our repentance complete we must always keep the commandments of the Lord (see D&C 1:32). A person is not fully repentant who does not pay his tithes or does not keep the Sabbath day holy or refuses to obey the Word of Wisdom. He is not repentant if he does not sustain the authorities of the Church …” – Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 200 cited by Spencer W. Kimball

no Greek or Latin upon the plates from which I, through the grace of God, translated the Book of Mormon. Let the language of that book speak for itself…
…I may safely say that the word Mormon stands independent of the learning and wisdom of this generation. – Before I give a definition, however, to the word, let me say that the Bible in its widest sense, means good…and though known by various names in different languages, still its meaning is the same, and is ever in opposition to bad. We say from the…Hebrew tob; and the Egyptian, mon.
Hence, with the addition of more, or the contraction, mor, we have the word Mormon, which means, literally, more good. Yours, Joseph Smith.”

For what could I write more than my fathers have written? For have not they revealed the plan of salvation? I say unto you, Yea; and this sufficeth me. 13 And it came to pass that two hundred and thirty and eight years had passed away — after the manner of wars, and contentions, and dissensions, for the space of much of the time. 14 And I, Jarom, do not write more, for the plates are small. But behold, my brethren, ye can go to the other plates of Nephi; for behold, upon them the records of our wars are engraven, according to the writings of the kings, or those which they caused to be written.”
