May 27 – Studying truths about God’s Holy Spirit. John 16:7-8; “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me.”

God’s Revealed Will vs. Searching for Revelation on Your Own

Ensign, ‘And Upon the Handmaidens in Those Days Will I Pour Out My Spirit,’ May 2010; “The ability to qualify for, receive, and act on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be acquired in this life.” – Julie Beck

November 3 – 2 Corinthians 6:16-17; “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

2010 First Presidency Christmas Devotional, ‘Seeing Christmas through New Eyes,’ December 2010; “The more commercialized and busy the Christmas season becomes, the easier it is for the sublime message of the Savior’s life to get lost along the way. If we notice that planning for parties and scrambling for presents begin to detract from the peaceable message of Jesus Christ and distance us from the gospel He preached, let us take a step back, slow down a little, and reconsider what matters most.” — Dieter F. Uchtdorf [emp. mine]

October 25 – One spirit, or two? Ephesians 4:4-6; “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
Temple of God: Is it a Building, or the Believer?

1 Corinthians 3:16-17; “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
I came across an article in the Ensign Magazine and posting it today for a couple of reasons –
- It serves as a good visual of a Mormon’s understanding of how God operated after Jesus’ resurrection, and the Holy Spirit came to reside inside the believer.
- It’s a great tool to use for witnessing!
To me, this article is the entire reason I work in this ministry. Nothing will tear at my heart like the total depravity Mormons find themselves in and then flounder around in the mess they’ve made. Following their prophet while reading the Bible is like trying to put that proverbial square peg in a round hole. The messages they hear are diametrically opposed to each other, and will never meld in a cohesive manner.
As you’ll see, this article is about a man who went through a rough patch in life, and began examining himself. The point to his article was for others to do the same by going through a check-list of sorts. My response to each point he brought up is in red font.
How to Become Born Again

General Conference, ‘Ye Must Be Born Again,’ April 2007; “The Holy Spirit of Promise is the ratifying power of the Holy Ghost. When sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise, an ordinance, vow, or covenant is binding on earth and in heaven. (See D&C 132:7.)
Receiving this “stamp of approval” from the Holy Ghost is the result of faithfulness, integrity, and steadfastness in honoring gospel covenants “in [the] process of time” (Moses 7:21).
However, this sealing can be forfeited through unrighteousness and transgression. Purifying and sealing by the Holy Spirit of Promise constitute the culminating steps in the process of being born again.” – David A. Bednar

Galatians 4:6; “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
It seems like a lifetime ago when I met with a friend for lunch and the hour I spent with her opened the door of a brand new world. Although at the time I didn’t understand why, I really enjoyed being in her presence. We both had husbands stationed at Nellis Air Base, and realized we had a lot of other things in common as well. On this particular day as we were chatting an overwhelming sense of peace and calmness washed over me, and I noticed whenever I was around her afterwards, the same thing happened! After I accepted the Lord I realized I had witnessed the effects of the Holy Spirit in the life of my friend who was a believer.

This is part 2 of 3 in our One God of the Bible Series
In 1994 LDS prophet Howard Hunter, declared Mormon temples to be the symbol of a Mormon’s worship. It’s a clear indication there’s something drastically wrong here! Jesus told us we can’t serve two masters, so if they’re serving the temple and those inside the temple, they can’t be serving Jesus!
Matthew 6:24; “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

Journal of Discourses 5:22-23; “Let us bless the land we cultivate and the fountains of water, and they will be blessed, and then men may drink of those waters, and they will fill them with
the Spirit and power of God. Let us bless and dedicate the fountains of life that are in us, in our wives and children, and in everything else around us.
Can the Spirit of God enter a stone, or one of those posts? Yes; and it can fill every pore as well as it can every pore in my body. Can it enter into my pores? Yes, even into my hair; and it can also enter my bones and quicken every limb, joint, and fiber.” – Remarks by President Heber C. Kimball, Delivered in the Bowery, Great Salt Lake City, April 6, 1857

Journal of Discourses 6:96; “With regard to this particular point, I will say that you shall judge the matter and be my witnesses. Have we not learned enough with regard to the character of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, to at once believe, admit, and affirm that the Holy Ghost always has and always
will operate precisely according to the suggestion of the Father? Not a desire, act, wish, or thought does the Holy Ghost indulge in contrary to that which is dictated by the Father. We all sense this in a degree, because it has always been taught to us. It is taught in the Bible, in the revelations given through Joseph, and in the preaching by the Elders of Israel…

Journal of Discourses 5:328 – 329; “Keep your spirits under the sole control of good spirits, and they will make your tabernacles honourable in the presence of God, angels, and men. If you will always keep your spirits in right subjection, you will be watching all the time, and never suffer yourselves to commit an act that you will be sorry for, and you can see that in all your life you are clear. Do not do anything that you will be sorry for.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 7, 1857

Haggai 2:6-9; “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; 7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Luke 2:27-32; “And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, 31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.”

Joel 2:28-32; “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.”
Acts 2:17-21; “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
